In a bad mood? You might want to reconsider that shopping trip

Has anyone ever told you not to go grocery shopping on an empty stomach?

Here’s another piece of advice: don’t go shopping for clothes when you’re in a bad mood!

I remember once going shopping on January 2nd with my family. I wasn’t feeling well that day—I was tired after such a busy holiday season—but I had promised my kids we would go. To make matters worse, it was a really cold day, and the traffic was terrible.

The stores were busting with people looking for good deals. I didn’t have patience for anything! I rushed through each store because I wanted to get out of there as soon as I could. So what did I do? I picked up clothes without looking twice at them, and rushed to the line-up. Everywhere I looked, kids were winning (because, like me, their moms were buying them everything!), the cashiers were huffing and puffing, and parents were exhausted and rude to one another.

What can I say: it was an incredibly terrible shopping experience. Plus, I ended up with a really ugly sweater that I couldn’t return—because I had bought it on a final sale.

Perhaps that’s why people love online shopping so much (and why boutiques like La Glamour Style exist!).

When it comes to buying clothes and accessories, shopping should be fun and relaxing! Shopping online allows you to take time to look through options and decide on your purchase, free from the hustle and bustle of busy stores, the stress of dealing with line-ups, and even the pressures of “Can you buy that for me?” from children.

I still love shopping at bricks-and-mortar stores, but now, I always do a “feelings check” before I go out to the mall. If I’m feeling kind of crappy, I wait for another day before venturing out with my hard-earned dollars!
